Preseason MLS Fighting - Season's Almost Here!

With two preseason tournaments happening in Florida and Arizona, MLS is in full preseason swing.  The excitement for the season is building as teams are trialing players and starters are getting fit.

Even though the games don't count, players are still taking them seriously.  Some guys are fighting for starting spots, some are fighting for a job.

The game in Tucson between Seattle and New England got heated when dirty tackles started flying.

I, for one, can't wait for the season to begin so we can get more emotion, excitement, and soccer fun back into our lives:

Gameday - USMNT vs Honduras - Who you got?

World Cup qualifying is finally back.

Team USA plays Honduras today in San Pedro Sula at 4pm ET.  It is perhaps the second most difficult game on the US schedule (behind playing at Mexico) and the Honduran government is letting people take the day off to root on thier national side.

Most people will be watching from work (this guy included).  Where will you be watching the game?  What do you think the score will be?

Preseason MLS Meme of the Week

Know what I mean?  The season can't start soon enough!

Thoughts on MLS Preseason

I've been catching some news from the MLS preseason and watching a bit of the games and I wonder if MLS can change things a bit to make it a bit more exciting.

Part of me feels like a baseball-style preseason, with different groups of teams spending a solid amount of time in a warm region of the country competing with the local clubs (not unlike what they are doing in Orlando and Tucson) is the best thing for the whole league.  It creates buzz for the locals, gives the teams a good place to train with good competition, and is stable.

The other option that some teams are taking is training overseas.  I'm not sure how worthwhile this is as the travel takes an unnecessary toll on the preseason bodies.

As a player, I would prefer being in one place for an extended period over travelling all over, especially during an exhibition season where gaining fitness is the priority.

What do you think?  Should MLS teams group up and stay in the country, or train overseas?

Top 10 Goals of January

Fox Soccer put together a video of the top 10 goals scored in England in the month of January.  Each one is special in its own right, but Cabaye's strike at #2 is my personal favorite.  To softly take down a long cross and nail a volley to the upper V is perfection.  Which is your favorite?

If you have any interest whatsoever in cars, racing, engineering, life, or Red Bull, you need to watch this video.

It's pretty much the best thing on the internet right now and it will make you want to take stuff apart just to see how it works:
